I love illustrations of mid century modern from the 50′s. They were all so clean, optimistic and, well, modern. I would love to live in any one of the below homes. Except for the one without furniture. Sitting on the floor sucks after a while. But who knows maybe they’re house poor.

Pryor Residence of Montauk, New York, was designed by Bates Masi Architects.

The house is environmentally friendly in its overall construction and planning with such specifics as geo-thermal heating & cooling, shading & venting systems, solar panels, organic finishes and materials.

The residence was designed for a couple and their two children, with the purpose of evoking the outdoors.

The kitchen is large with white everything, including the walls, furniture, ceiling, lamps, etc. Giving the apartment a clean modern look.

A Mid-Century House Becomes a Home after 50 years

It’s like stepping back in time to the 1950′s. A mid-century house that was built more than 50 years ago, but never been lived in has a new owner. And soon will soon have tenants.

The New Zealand home was built in 1959 by Peter Welch, a builder. Mr Welch died this year and his property was sold last week at auction to the current owner. Mr. Welch never used the house for himself, nor did anyone else. Until now. Read More
